CATMANTOO approved CAT items

September 9, 2017

Now that cats are inside our homes a lot more rather than roaming outside where they’re subjected to many dangerous situations, It’s very important that we provide “stimulation” so they can experience similar things they might get to experience as an outdoor cat, but without all the dangers.

Some of the items below, in part, will help provide Physical and mental exercise which is essential to a cats happiness, the other part is being proactive with your cat, I recommend teaching your cat how to walk on leash or teach them other tricks. Mental exercise is more effective at tiring them out than physical exercise. Plus can help cut down, or totally eradicate some behavioural issues like, boredom, scratching furniture, biting/scratching you, destructive behaviour, or maybe your cat is a little overweight and can benefit from being more active? A trained cat is a more confident cat, and this will enhance the bond that you share.

Below is a list of products mostly for cats (and cat lovers), if you have a dog or you’d like to see other “best selling” pet products, click here> GET YOUR PET SUPPLIES HERE

DaBird – Best cat toys EVER! (choose which one is best for you, don’t forget your refills). Make sure you hide the toys away when not in use. I need to hide mine in dresser drawers, I need to make sure the draws are completely shut or Boomer will pull them open, and proceed to chew them on the floor.

Training equipment - clickers, harness and lead

Grooming - Gloves are for both long and short hair, the furminator brush is for short hair

Dog brush

Miscellaneous Items - Gift cards

PET CARRIERS - Don't wait till the "day of" travel or pet visit to shove your cat inside a pet carrier. it can take weeks of practice that is very easy to do, to acclimate your cat to their carrier.

Have you seen all the videos lately with the cat laying in one of these while riding in a car? These are relatively new item, and can be stuck on a window in your home OR if your cat likes to ride in the car, this might be wonderful for them.

Learn About Your Dog

August 14, 2014

Over the last 29 years I’ve read many books and magazines on dog training and dog behavior.  One of the earlier books I read (other than dog training manuals) is “The Monks Of New Skete”. It was the must read book in its day.  If you read it today, you could still pick up some helpful advice, but because of the changes in technique and philosophies over the years, it’s not my first choice as a must read book for today’s dog owner.

I know that dog owners are just expected to know everything about their dog, but the reality is- they don’t, and in many cases, not even close.  As your dog’s teacher, your dog deserves for you to learn from the real Authorities in the business.  A great way to do this is to read books that myself and other top trainers and behaviorists recommend.

Books also make a great gift idea.

The Culture Clash – Jean Donaldson

Oh Behave – Jean Donaldson

Doctor Dunbar’s Good Little Dog Book – Ian Dunbar

Dogs: A New Understanding of Canine Origin, Behavior and Evolution – Raymond Coppinger

The other end of the leash- Patricia McConnell

They are all good, but if you needed a place to start I would suggest Good little dog book- Ian Dunbar or Culture Clash AMAZON BOOKS

If you have a must read dog book, and want to share it with us, please let us know by using the comment form below. Thanks

World’s Dog Trainer – Dog Star Daily

September 24, 2011

I’m so excited! A video that took me over a year to complete, is finally airing on Dr. Ian Dunbar’s Web Video series for Dog Star Daily, called “World’s Dog Trainer”.

If you don’t recognize Dr, Ian Dunbar’s name, pretty much every dog trainer around the world would; even many dog owners have at least one of his many books. He is the driving force behind “reward/science based” dog training, using lurers and motivation to teach dogs V.S. fear or dominance. This “New way” of teaching dogs was quickly adopted by top trainers some 25+ years ago.

When I saw Dr. Ian Dunbar’s email to me, I thought why would he be contacting me? especially when I’m all the way over here in Australia?

Below I pulled out some of the highlights of his email to me:

Hi there Robert

I love your website…

I am about to embark on a thoroughly exciting dog project and would very much like your help and participation. DogStarDaily is about to launch a web-based “TV Channel” dedicated entirely to dogs.  Not only is web-TV worldwide (as opposed to local and nationwide) but all the programmes are archived and therefore, never die.

I would like you to be a part of our flagship programming that comprises 26 dog trainers from all around the world. I think that the worldwide impact of this show will blast unfriendly and boring dog training back to the Middle Ages (where it belongs). I would very much like you to be a part of this programme featuring dog-friendly dog training around the world.

Basically, you would have approximately 18 minutes to present your message to dog owners worldwide plus nearly a minute to advertise your company website, services and products.  Dog Star Daily is fast becoming one of the biggest (most-trafficked) doggy websites in the world. Depending on the success of your episode (# views and ratings), we may invite you to host your own 13-episode programme.

Your segment is primarily about YOU but also I would like you to showcase your country, trying to film with unique backdrops that show off the sights of your neighbourhood and the culture.

Please let me know if you would be interested in participating. If yes, please start filming right away.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Let’s rock.

Ultra mega woofs to you
